This time my work led me to Montrose, Angus where I was doing some Real Estate photography. It’s around two hours drive from Edinburgh and now it is one of my favourite beaches in Scotland.
Me and my support team – family, we stayed in Station cottage which is located just four miles from Montrose. It’s a lovely holiday home for families, the cottage has private garden and a fireplace which gave us this extra cosy feeling during not so warm evenings. One of the bedroom windows provides beautiful view to bridge of Dun. The bridge is located on the River South Esk and from another bedroom you can see Bridge of Dun railway station which has been reopened in 1993 and operates service from Bridge of Dun to Brechin.
We had fantastic time enjoying long walks on a sandy beach, my son loved seafront splash area located just by the beach. The cafe there is open throughout the year to enjoy a cup of hot drink or have a meal. We are definetaly coming back soon as there is plenty more to explore.
This time my work took me to Kirkcaldy. My family usually travel with me. We linger in the are for a whole day to explore and enjoy surroundings.
Kirkcaldy is a town in Fife, located on the east coast of Scotland. On the town esplanade each Easter Kirkcaldy offers Europe’s longest street fair with rides and attractions.
Enjoy walk along the beach or woodland walks. If you travel by car, parking is just by the sea, you can leave your car there and take Fife Coastal Path which will take you to the ancient Ravenscraig castle. Only ruins left of 15th century castle, however still worth a visit for beautiful views from the cliff.
It is a sandy beach located between Aberdeen and Dundee, and runs for three miles. St Cyrus is part of National Nature Reserve and is rich with wildlife. If you lucky enough you may see common and grey seals on the sand banks. May also spot while dolphin, porpoise, minke, humpback and killer whales offshore. Clean and quite beach for walks with breathtaking views.
We will definitely come back in the spring or summer time to visit Montrose beach, which is just next to St Cyrus beach and offers seafront splash play area for kids.
We explored only little part of this beautiful sandy beach because we had to head back to Edinburgh and the sun was setting down. See you soon Montrose!
